Batter Up!

Our now 7 year old nephew l-o-v-e-s baseball!

This made buying a birthday gift for his party yesterday a breeze!

Batting gloves and a set of bases were our gift of choice.

Both of which were put to good use by the birthday boy and brothers in a game of back yard baseball as soon as the cake and ice cream was served!

A quick coaching lesson from Uncle May and everyone was ready to play!

Boys in the field and boys up to bat

What a great way to spend the evening!

27 Weeks Along

How far along? 27 weeks- Hello 3rd trimester!

Total weight gain: 19 pounds.

Maternity clothes? I am LOVING Old Navy's tank tops! They aren't technically maternity clothes, but I just buy bigger sizes than I would have before!

Sleep: Fairly well :) The charlie horses seem to have subsided for now!

Best moment this week: Buying baby bedding!

Movement: He seems to "roll" more so now than "kick" but he is still movin' and grovin'

Gender: Baby boy

Labor Signs: Nope

Belly Button in or out? In for now

What I miss: Nothing new really

Weekly Wisdom: Do your best to not be offended when 900 strangers tell you that you will be miserable in this summer heat, or take it upon themselves to share their labor and delivery horror stories :)

Milestones: His new trick this week is blinking! His lungs are now developed enough to function outside the womb.

Being Resourceful :)

Upon moving into our new house just over a month ago, Mahlon and I had made a list of improvements/add on's we would like to complete over the summer.
Here is the list:
As you can see, "build a clothes line" has not been one of the things we have accomplished yet.
So, in an effort to be resourceful, I created my own clothes line :)

My husband, being the handy man that he is, had probably 25-30 bungee cords like this
in his handy dandy toolbox! So, I decided to borrow them for the time being and created this very efficient clothesline!

All I needed was the bungee cords, a tree, and the back fence!
Go ahead and say it.....how redneck resourceful! :)
We will see what handy husband thinks when he gets home from work today :)

Garden update- week 2

So, remember this blog last week? Our hopes were that all the hard work we put into planting our garden would pay off.
Here is the garden last week....

And here is the garden this week......
Yay!!!
It sprouted!
Woohoo!!!
Heres the trick.....
Water.
Yep, that's it.
Twice a day.
Morning and night.
If you water, they will grow ;)
We aren't sure if they will produce anything yet.
However, they will at least sprout- and thats a start :)

Fetch!

Ahem...........................
I said fetch!
I even bought you this cool new toy!

Look here it goes............ Go get it!

Or.....stand there on the porch.
So dear old dog Orson USE to fetch.
Use to, before he went to live with Nana that is.
Now, no matter what the toy is, he just stand there and stares at me like I'm nuts.Or as if he is saying " Ummm you go get it!" I've even tried slipping dog treats into his ball and all he does is run to the ball, pick it up and shake it until the treat falls out. Then he runs away. How smart, right?  I don't know what to do! I mean, what dog does not like to play fetch? We have some serious dog training to do-again :)

Meet Myla

Meet Myla, my moms friendly feline

She is super sweet, and extra protective of her 3 precious new kittens!
It took many attempts to get this shot of just one of the kittens who was trying to escape :)
How stinking adorable! I want to get them out and play with them soooo bad! Guess I'll just have to wait :(

Trying out our green thumbs

Since this year has held so many firsts for us, we figured why not add another!

 Our first garden!

If we are successful, When our garden comes up we will have: tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, okra, squash, honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon, and sweet corn! Hopefully Mahlon's farming and greenhouse background will come in handy-I'll keep ya posted on the progress :)
