"The place where they cook in front of you"

When we asked our brave nephews where they wanted to go eat lunch at today they said "That place where they cook in front of you!" Just to clarify "the place where they cook in front of you" is the Japanese restaurant that Mahlon and I often eat at and have told the boys about. So off to "the place where they cook in front of you" we went!
The first matter of business was to play with the way cool pin-wheels they put on your straws

Then we had to master the chopsticks :)

And next........try some new foods!
Here is the play by play of L trying the spicy crab:

And D trying some Sushi...
I have to give them credit! They tried a little bit of everything, however at the end of the day, chicken strips still won them over :)

Mmmmm Pizza :)

So, my handy husband and I have a very bad habit of going out to eat all too often. We have tried to break this habit by creating a "menu" for the week so that the question "what's for dinner" is never really a question. This past week we had the following:
Sunday: Salsa Sloppy Joe's
Monday: Spaghetti and Garlic Toast
Tuesday: Broccoli and Chicken Casserole
Wednesday: Pork Stir Fry
Thursday: Chicken and Rice, Mac and Cheese and Peas
Tonight we were supposed to have Kabobs, however we decided to go to one of Bowling Green's finest for dinner........any guesses as to where that might have been?

If you guessed Mancinos you win, give your self a pat on the back! We had a very yummy pizza
with plenty of great toppings, especially olives! Ok so cooking dinner 5 out of 6 nights so far this week is pretty good for me! Maybe we will have Kabobs tomorrow night..........

Un-Stuff The Bus!

Lots

Of

Stuff!

Wow!! Today was such an uplifting day! I felt a sense of satisfaction last week when my handy husband and I took some school supplies by the S.T.B. drive, as though we were in a small way helping a child be prepared for and successful in school. However, today when the S.T.B. crew stopped by W.E.S I was truly humbled. I could not believe the amount of supplies that were donated for our students!
A HUGE thank you to 100.7 FM, Tony Rose and all of SOKY for your awesome support!

Stuff The Bus

Come out and Stuff The Bus! A local morning show host has set out to collect a bus full of school supplies for local students. This is the 5th year that Tony has lead the Stuff the Bus program. He boards the bus and will not leave until the bus is full of school supplies. Tony says"This allows them, Stuff The Bus, to have those school supplies so when they go in on their first day of class. They are starting on the same playing field with all the other kids, ones who already have those supplies so, they are already more attentive in class paying more attention," As a teacher in the local school system, I can not begin to thank Tony enough! There are often times too many children who's families are not able to provide them with the necessary school supplies. If you are in the Bowling Green area and have not gone by and donated a few supplies please do so!

Summer Time and Pink Lemonade

My handy husband believes that summer just isn't summer without some pink lemonade, and lots of it! Every week when we were going to the grocery we would buy one of the 19 ounce canisters of Country Time pink lemonade mix (which was making 8 quarts of pink lemonade). I believed this was a great deal, it saved time and money because there was no need to add sugar to the pink lemonade when making it at home. However, last week when we made the routine trip to Wal-Mart Mahlon found this container of 82.5 ounces of pink lemonade drink mix! With this single container, one can make 136 quarts of pink lemonade! Geeze! After figuring how many of the smaller containers we would have to buy in order to equal one of these large containers, Mahlon was happy to conclude that the large container was the better buy! However, I still wonder if this container will last the remainder of the summer..........

My Handy Husband

So as I have mentioned, my husband is a great carpenter! And he loves me so much that he spends all his free time building things for my classroom. Ok so maybe not so much the second part! But he did build me this awesome picnic table for me to put in my classroom!
Isn't it adorable! I love love love it!!! It did however need a little color so after long debate, i decided on "Green Tomato" as the color of choice!
This is one more thing I can check off of the list of things to do before Open House next week! Gosh, where has the summer gone?!?!

Summer Wrap Up

I have had the best of intentions to start a blog all summer long and here it is 2 weeks before my "summer vacation" is over and I am just now getting around to it! In my defense we have been a little busy!
For me, the last day of school was on 5.28.2010, along with our rehearsal dinner! Mahlon and I got married on 5.29.2010 in the company of 150 of our closest family and friends. It was an absolutely beautiful day! Since then, we have yet to slow down!

We went on a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise aboard the Carnival Dream for our honeymoon. The ship was absolutely amazing! And yes, like everyone always says, there wa
s plenty to eat! (Mahlon and I both put on 3 pounds in the 7
days we were on the ship!) We were able to stop at 3 out of 4 great ports.

Cozumel
Isla Roatan
and Belize
however unfortunately were not able to stop at Costa Maya due to the tropical storm that was passing through the area. When we arrived at Costa Maya at around 6 in morning there were 10 foot waves crashing over the pier where we would disembark from the ship so the Capitan (with reasonable cause) decided to turn the ship around and head back to Port Canaveral in FL. This is a very blurry photo but if you look close you can see the waves crashing over the port!

Since we have returned from the cruise we have spent most of our time putting away wedding gifts, writing thank you notes and visiting family.

Here is a picture of worlds greatest uncle playing with M at the 4th of July cookout
He loves this game! And he also loves looking at the pictures that i take of him "way up there" :)
