Trash to Treasure!

Our living room has been slightly taken over by all of Harrison's accessories! The swing, jumperoo, bouncy seat, bumbo and toys take up a lot of space! With all these accessories moving in, it was time for the tired old coffee table to move on out!
I hated to just get rid of the table- it matched our end tables and was still a good piece of furniture so I suggested to my handy husband that we give the table a new purpose- a "sofa table" for the entry way!
Here's how it turned out:

Before:
During...
 And after!
Mahlon did an awesome job!
My creative ideas + Mahlon's carpentry skills= sweet new FREE table!
Yay!

The Teacher In Me

The teacher in me is growing more and more excited for the 100th day of school! My love for the 100th day of school began when I was in elementary school! I was very blessed to have 5 wonderfully amazing elementary school teachers! (yes only 5, I was lucky enough to have the same teacher for 1st and 2nd grade!). The one thing about the 100th day of school that I can remember loving the most was making our own 100th day of school shirts! I can remember working for hours with my mom gluing 100 bows onto a sweater one year, and painting 100 gold stars onto a shirt another year. Since this is a memory that has stuck with me for so long, I suggested to our Kindergarten team that we make 100th day of school shirts a part of our celebration this year, and they agreed! (I think just to humor me, but still I'm excited- thanks girls!)
Now, the search is on for what 100 creative things I can find to glue to a shirt! Googly eyes are at the top of my list right now ;)
As for the remainder of our 100th day of school celebration I plan to incorporate many of my previous activities such as gluing 100 items(puzzle pieces, sequins and pom-poms)  to large numbers 1 0 0 cut out of poster board, skip counting to 100 by 5's using the kids hand prints, making 100th day of school hats covered with 100 stickers, and creating 100th day of school snack mix- each child using 10 pieces of 10 different kinds of snacks so that everyone has 100 pieces in their mix. However, what would this year be without a few activities from Pinterest??? These activities might also make their way into the celebration this year:
I WILL have this hanging from the doorway as the students enter!

I think this would be a fun and creative activity for the kids!
And, who wouldn't want to wear these cool shades around all day? lol!
If the day is a success, we MIGHT accomplish 1/2 the activities I have planned ;)
It will be a fun day, none the less!

Mommy Adventures: Sick Baby

We have had our first "sick" visit to the doctor this week.
Harrison has been congested since he was born it seems, our pediatrician says it's inevitable because of the time of the year he was born and the constant change in weather.
Sunday he started having a cough along with his congestion and would cough and cough until he choked and spit up. It scared me to death! So, first thing Monday morning we went to the doctor! He checked Harrison top to bottom and concluded that it was nothing more than a head cold and the reason he was choking and coughing was because of the nasal drainage from the head cold. We believed him for about 2 days and when Harrison wasn't any better by Wednesday we went back again just to be sure ;) Yes, we are new parents! Same diagnosis on Wednesday.  Since it's not a bacterial infection there is no medication we can give him  but I was determined to find some way to help him feel better!
This seems to help!
I like it because it smells like Vick's Vapor rub ;)
3 cap fulls in a nice warm bath in a steamy bathroom breaks all the congestion loose!

Harrison likes it because it makes bubbles!
I strongly recommend this to all mommies!
With this, and a lot of cuddles, our sweet Harrison will be better than ever in no time!

FEET!

I've found my feet!

They are pretty fun to chew on!
And I've learned to pull my socks off, all in the same day ;)

Rock & ROLL!

For the past few weeks Harrison has been rocking back and forth up onto his sides. Every time he does, I scramble for the camera in anticipation of catching a few shots of him rolling over for the first time!

Every time, this is what I get.
Pictures of Harrison hanging out on his side :)
Today was a different story.
After a morning trip to the doctor, food and a long nap Harrison was spunky and full of energy!
I put him on his belly on the play mat and right away, he rolled over. Just like that! Like he had done it a million times before!
Of course the camera was no where to be found!
I tried to stage a reenactment with no success.
Since I did not get the actual moment on film, I decided to write it down (twice) and take a quick picture(s)!

He was so proud of himself!
We are proud of you too sweet boy :)

Cleaning Out The Closet!

Today Mahlon and I decided that it was time to clean out Harrison's closet!
We made 3 separate piles: too small, just right, and too big for now but I'll grow into these in the next month for sure ;)
After we had put away all the "just right" and "too big for now" clothes, this is what we were left with

An entire floor full of clothes that he has out grown.
I'm not sure how to feel about all these clothes!
We actually didn't find any one outfit that he did not wear at least once ;) however, this is still a ridiculous amount of clothes!

Once they are shoved into a tote it doesn't seem like there are as many......
but then I look back at the first picture again and think "Wow!"
Anyway, Harrison now has a nice, neat and organized closet and dresser again!

For the next few weeks anyway!

Cereal: Take 1

Hey, Whatcha got there Mom?
It looks like it might be yummy!
 Sure, I'll try it...
I don't think I like it........
On second thought, I KNOW I don't like it. I think I'll just spit it all back out.
This stuff is disgusting! Can't I just have some milk!
Cereal Take 1= Major Fail! Lol!
Maybe we will have better luck tonight :)
Thanks Mahlon for catching these priceless pics! Haha :)

Home Improvement!

No, Tim Allen will not be appearing in this blog post. Sorry for the disappointment :)
However, we did finally find some time to make some much needed improvements to our house.
First off, we bought an area rug for the living room!
Hardwood floors are very pretty (and easier to clean than carpet in my opinion) however, they are not very comfortable to sit and play on. So, the first improvement on the list was to make the living room more "comfortable" by adding an area rug.

Next! Our kitchen had a very awkward wall space between the counter and the pantry. It wasn't really big enough to do anything with, so I decided to consult the trusty Pinterest for some ideas on what to use to fill this obnoxiousness blank wall :)
I decided on a menu board.
We purchased 1 can of chalkboard paint and a few feet of trim and this project was complete in about an hour! How fun!

On to the master bedroom.
 Chair railing- check!
When we bought our home all the walls in the house were the same tan color.
We repainted all the rooms with the exception of the bathroom and the hallways.
When it came to the master bedroom and bath we decided to split the colors to give it a little bit more pzazz ;)  but we had yet to get around to adding the chair railing.

And finally- we purchased a new washer and dryer.
Nope, these are not a fancy front load like we would have liked to have.
However, they are efficient and QUIET which is a lot more than can be said for our last set!

That's all the improvements for now!

Watch Me Grow! 4 Months!

Harrison is 4 months old today!
He is smiling, laughing and chewing on everything.

Sleeping, well that is not his favorite thing to do right now!
He was such a good sleeper for the first 3 1/2 months, but for the past 2 weeks he has decided that he needs to see every hour on the clock between 2 and 6 AM :- /
We think it might be because he's in a growth spurt, he has been eating about every 2 1/2 hours.
We go to the Dr. tomorrow for our 4 month check up....and shots.
I am not looking forward to the shots at all ;(
I am hoping that we get the go ahead for cereal though, I think it would really help!
He is loving playing in the jumperoo, sitting in his Bumbo seat, and is starting to enjoy tummy time a little more!
He is growing and changing so fast!
