Not Me!

I think this blog post that MckMama does is too cute and thought I'd give it a shot myself! So here goes:
Mckmama- Not Me Monday
Who would ignore there perfectly sweet dog for over 2 weeks now? No Frisbee throwing, going for walks or running around the yard. I don't know who would do that, but it's surly not me!

I did NOT fall asleep nursing my 2 week old newborn last night and let him sleep in the bed with us for about 2 hours before I woke up and realized it. Nope! Not me!

I have NOT been overly obsessed with his umbilical cord and the fact that it had not fallen off yet. I have not been calling the pediatrician and consulting friends only to have all my worries washed away today when it finally fell off. Not me!

I do NOT drag the bouncy seat into the bathroom every morning so that Harrison is close by while I shower and dry my hair. Nope!

It is NOT possible that I eat more now that I am not pregnant than I did the past 10 months. Nope, not me!

Ok! That's enough confessions for now :)

Baby Wearing

Now that Mahlon has gone back to work,
Harrison and Mommy spend our days around the house like this:
I can fold laundry, put away dishes, walk to the mailbox, and many other fun things all while snuggled up with my sweet Baby Harrison!
Thanks to my awesome husband for the Moby wrap!
We LOVE it!

Meeting the Cousins

Although he's not much on waking up for his company, Harrison did get to meet his cousins today.

 Mason
 Landon
Dalton
Logan
They were all very excited to meet Harrison!
Logan did tell us however that his baby (a toy monkey) was more fun than Harrison because his baby talked!
To them, this is very true. There isn't much entertainig about a baby eating and sleeping :)
Speaking of eating, here is a very comical conversation between Mahlon and Mason today!

Mason: ( While looking at pictures of Harrison from the hospital) How did the baby get here?
Mahlon: We went to the hospital and they helped us have a baby
Mason: Did they give you the baby?
Mahlon: Yep
Mason: Then why is Ashley laying in a bed in that picture?
Mahlon: She was tired.
Mason: Oh, humm.
Mason: Where did Ashley go?
Mahlon: To feed the baby.
Mason: Why did she go in the bedroom?
Mahlon: Because that's where she feeds the baby.
Mason: Why is the door shut?
Mahlon: Because Harrison likes it quiet when he eats.
Mason: Oh. Whats he eat?
Mahlon: Milk
Mason: Milk from the fridge?
Mahlon ( exhausted with the questions) Yes.
Hahaha! Oh sweet little minds!

Harrison's Birth Story

Thursday September 1, 2011 Mahlon and I checked into the hospital at 4:30 pm.
At 6:00 am Friday September 2 I started receiving pitocin through an IV to begin labor.
15 hours later.......
Harrison Michael Cowan entered the world!
He was born at 9:23 PM

Weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long.
We have never felt more joy than we felt at this moment!
After an almost  48 hour stay in the hospital
We were heading home to begin our wonderful new life as a family of 3!

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock

*Sigh*
Today will quite possibly be the longest day of my life! At my Dr. appointment on Tuesday my doctor scheduled me to come into the hospital this afternoon to be induced. Being my stubborn self, I truly wanted to go to school today! However, I did take the advice of my co-workers and friends who said that teaching 23 rambunctious kindergarten students all day and then being induced would be way too much for one day ,and stayed home. I have been wide awake since about 4 am this morning! I mean seriously, how are you supposed to rest or relax at all knowing that you are going to be meeting your newborn baby so soon?!?!

So, in an effort not to go stir crazy today, I have made a list of activities!

* Unpack and repack the hospital bag- just to make sure we have everything we want/need :)
* Finish writing thank you notes(which will not be mailed until Harrison has arrived to allow for a few extra special touches!)
* Clean, clean, clean! I don't think there is really anything else left to clean in the house- but I'm going to do my best to find something!
* Play with Orson! He is about to have a rude awakening not being the center of attention around here anymore!
Maybe this will keep me busy until at least noon :)
