Brush, Brush, Brush!

Now that Harrison has 2 teeth we have started brushing every night!

The trick to actually getting his two little teeth brushed.....letting him play with the toothbrush first!

Then, Mommy embarks on the task of getting the toothbrush in his mouth and actually on his teeth!

Which is always challenging, but funny since he tries to eat the toothbrush :)
We are pretty lucky, he seems to like the tooth brushing part of our night time routine!
Here's to healthy dental habits!

71 Things

I will admit, I did not create this list. However, as a Kindergarten teacher, I do agree 100%! Follow the link here to find out 71 skills your child should have prior to entering Kindergarten :)

Teeth!

See!
Ok, so you can't really see them because he kept sticking his tongue out over top of them, but they really are there ;)

Which we are very thankful for! Hopefully this will ease the teething pain for at least a few days!

He was much more interested in the sign this afternoon than smiling for Momma!

Kool Eggs!

This year, I thought I'd try a new way of dying Easter eggs.
Instead of using the typical egg dying kit, I decided to use Kool-Aid!
(No, I am not this inventive on my own- I found this idea on Pinterest.)
Here's how:
1. Boil eggs as usual
2. Combine one package of Kool-Aid mix with 3/4 cups of warm water.
3. Stir mixture
4. Dip eggs in mixture, let sit for 3 to 4 minutes.
I also tried a new way of dipping the eggs this year. Since I was doing this activity with 21 Kindergarten students, I decided to use 2 large muffin tins to dip the eggs in.

This way, everyone could dip their egg at the same time!  The kids told me what color egg they wanted, I mixed the color, poured the mixture into the tin and they placed their egg in! Simple as pie!
This how they turned out!
I would recommend every color except purple. The grape Kool-Aid turned the eggs more of a black color than purple. My two favorite colors came from the Cherry and Lime Kool-Aid packets. Both colors were very vibraint!
I will use this method of dying eggs from now on!

Watch Me Grow; Seven Months!

1 Day old

1 Month Old
2 Months Old
3 Months Old
4 Months Old

5 Months Old
6 Months Old
7 MONTHS OLD

Here are a few of the other shots from today's photo shoot with the big blue bear ;)

"mamamamama"

Grrrrrr!

Our 7 Month Old Harrison
*weighs 20.1 pounds according to our digital scales at home.
* has started sleeping in his room ALL night EVERY night. We still had the bassinet set up in our bedroom until about 2 weeks ago. Whenever he would wake up during the night, I would bring him back to our room, feed him and put him in the bassinet instead of taking him back to his room. Since he is sleeping longer at nights; through the night about 2-3 times a week, he is spending the nights in his room ;)
*  is trying so very hard to crawl!

He rocks back and forth from side to side, stretching his arms forward and kicking his legs. I just know he will be on the move soon!
* does not like for mommy to feed him anymore! Every time I try to feed Harrison, he reaches for the spoon and tries to guide it to his mouth on his own. I've tried saying "no no" and giving him something else to hold in his hands while he eats, but he is a pretty determined little guy!
*is eating fruits and vegetables twice a day- at lunch and dinner, and rice cereal twice a day- at breakfast and before bed. He LOVES sweet potatoes and any fruit with bananas in it. He does not like peaches or squash. Our pediatrician said we could introduce meats and dinners at 7 months, but we have not tried any yet.
*really likes the Mum Mums, but the puffs were not a hit. He got really frustrated with the puffs, so we just put those back in the pantry!
*loves to swing! This boy could swing for hours!
* is babbling more and more every day. He makes the sounds "mamamama" "dadadadada" and "bababababa"! I don't think that he associates the sounds mama and dada with Mahlon and I yet, but he is saying them ;)
*still does not have any teeth. Maybe by the end of this month there will be a few.
*can drink from a sippy cup on his own
*is growing up way too fast! Dear time, please slow down!
