Check Me Out!
Tonight during our weekly night out to dinner Mahlon and I decided to see if Harrison would sit up in a resturant high chair, here is how it went!
Such a big boy! He loved sitting up and looking around! Tonight was the most content he has ever been while at a resturant. He also had a good time flirting with our waitress :) every time she would come around he would grin and coo at her! Watch out Mommas!

Homemade Baby Food
Why? Why not!
Ok, why really? I'll let you in on my reasoning!
1) Quality control- when you make your own baby food, you have total control over what is added to the food! You know that it is free of additives that their tiny tummies do not need!
2) Best ingredients- you choose the fruit/ vegetables to use. Only the ripest and farm fresh for your little one!
3) Textures- when making your own foods you can blend until they are as smooth or thin as your baby likes.
4) Healthy eating habits- helping your baby learn to like the taste of non-processed foods.
5)More tastes- you are not limited to the selection at the store. You are free to process any fruit or vegetable ( age appropriate) for your little one!
6)Super savings!
(O.K. , I did my research can you tell?)
And plus,it was really very simple!
For bananas (which is the only fruit we have given Harrison so far) all I did was:
1) peal and cut the banana into small chunks
2) Place them in the food processor
3) Chop away
4) Scoop into ice cube tray
5) cover with plastic wrap and freeze for future use!
When it't time to eat, all you do is thaw one or two cubes and serve!
How simple!
I am very excited to continue making all of Harrison's foods and can not wait to have some farm fresh produce this summer!

Mommy Must Haves
I though I'd take the time to share my top 5 mommy must haves- for this month at least! I feel like I have 5 new favorite things every month, so here's to February's top 5!
5) Bath water thermometer.
I was just not comfortable with the "check the temperature with your elbow" trick. I like really hot baths so I was never comfortable with my own assesment of the water temperature. This little thing will tell you if the water is too cold, just right, or too hot! All you do is drop it in the prepared bath water and let it float for 30 seconds then check the reading. I love it! Harrison enjoys chewing on it while in the bath as well!
4) Space saver high chair
This is the best thing ever! We love it because it fits right our kitchen chairs, it reclines, has straps for holding little babies in and has a dishwasher safe tray! What else could you want?
3) Munchkin bowls and spoons
I love the spoons because the actual spoon part is small, not wide like a lot of other baby spoons we have and because they have long handles.
The bowls are a must have because they have the suction rings on the bottom. These have come in handy recently as Harrison has become more interested in what is actually "in" the bowl and reaches for the bowl trying to pull it toward himself. I also love the bright colors. Yes, if you want me to purchase your product, please have it available in bright colors!
2)Aden and Anais blankets
These blankets are the softest ever! They are also great for swaddling and tying off into a sling!
1) An awesome bath tub!
There is nothing fancy about this bath tub. It is plain and simple but also very functional! The top half can be used for young babies, the sides and bottom stoppers hold the baby right in place and do not allow them to roll over or scoot down into the water. The bottom half is deeper and has the space for older babies to sit up. We started out with a cute, fancy bath tub that was far from functional. We soon came to our senses and bought this functional and inexpensive tub for only $26 at babies R' us!
That's all for now! On to finding 5 new cool accessories for next month!

Just Pears
Since the day Harrison was born, he has been a big eater !
We followed our pediatricians advice and waited until 4 months to start introducing him to cereal.
You might remember this pitiful face:
It was not an immediate success, however he has grown to love it!
The cereal is just not cutting it any more however!
Harrison is becoming hungry more often. We are still trying to push his feedings out to every 4 hours but at about 3 1/2 hours he gets pretty grumpy ;)
After much *research and consulting of friends and family, we have decided to go against the doctors orders (to wait until 6 moths to introduce fruits and vegetables) and introduce some baby food a few weeks early ;)
*Much of what I researched said that if your baby will sit up with some assistance and acts interested in food, then they are ready for solid foods. Harrison for sure "acts interested in food". When we are eating dinner he will watch every bite we take and open his mouth and reach for our plates ;)
The other night we gave him his normal amount of cereal and and a few bites of "just pears" by Plum Organics as well.
The first encounter with fruits was a much better "first" than the cereal!
Everything seems to be working out great so far! No allergic reactions or belly aches from the pears!
On to bananas next!

Love
With Valentine's Day around the corner, love is in the air. I came across this today and had to share! (unintentional rhyme- lol)
Here are the references :)
The lot puts an end to quarrels
and decides between powerful contenders. (Proverbs 18:18 ESV)
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; (James 1:19 ESV)
All day long he craves and craves,
but the righteous gives and does not hold back. (Proverbs 21:26 ESV)
And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, (Colossians 1:9 ESV)
Better is a dry morsel with quiet
than a house full of feasting with strife. (Proverbs 17:1 ESV)
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, (Ephesians 4:15 ESV)
Do all things without grumbling or questioning, (Philippians 2:14 ESV)
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13:7 ESV)
bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. (Colossians 3:13 ESV)
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. (Proverbs 13:12 ESV)

Random on the iPhone
Looking back through the camera roll on my phone I found 2 things
1. Tons of pictures of Harrison.
2. Tons of random pictures!
I thought I would share some of the random ones with you tonight :)
Below you will find: a picture f our neighbor mowing our yard, a button that I successfully sewed back on Mahlon's pants, Handy Husbands next project, lots of roosters, the code from a Mt. Dew cap, a terrible fortune cookie and my workout from the gym today! Yep- that's just some of the randomness found on my phone!

100 Days of School
Yes, I know that I am a week behind with this post!
Last week in the post The Teacher In Me I talked about how much I loved the 100th day of school as a student and how I enjoy sharing my love for this day with my students now that I am a teacher!
Here are some of the ways we celebrated the 100th day of school last Thursday!
A welcome banner hanging from the door! Through out the day I took each students picture under this sign ;)
100 things to color for morning work.
Ingredients for our 100's snack mix.
Skip counting to 100 by 5's using our hand prints.
Sorting fruit loops into 10 piles of 10 to use in making a necklace of 100 fruit loops!
100th day of school hats with 100 fingerprints!
Decorating the number 100 with 100 different items on each digit - I think they got a little carried away with the stickers-there seems to be a tad more that 100 there ;)
Every student in the class wore a shirt with 100 different things on them!
They were all very unique and I loved each of them! Some of my favorite included:
100 wiggly eyes
100 jungle animal foam stickers
and
100 bugs!
Not to be left out, the teacher all made 100th day of school shirts as well!
All in all, it was a very fun and exhausting day!
Hopefully, one the students will remember!

5 Months!
What's new with Harrison?
I am loving jumping in the Jumperoo!
I can roll over- although I choose not to most of the time!
I'm working very hard on getting a tooth!
I will take things from your hand; including this piece of candy!
I talk A LOT more now! I'm not really saying anything specific but I sure do make a lot of babbling noises! Mom is convinced I said "momma" this morning!
I'm eating rice cereal now.
I sleep 7 hours at a time during the night.
I'm almost 1/2 year old
Dear time, Please slow down!
